Company Voluntary Arrangements (CVAs)

A CVA or PVA is an arrangement taking the form of a proposal between a company and its creditors in satisfaction of some or all of its liabilities.

An Administration is where a Licenced Insolvency Practitioner is appointed as Administrator of a company to manage its affairs, business and property.

Members’ Voluntary Liquidation (MVLs)

Members’ Voluntary Liquidations are a solvent means of closing down a company which has come to the end of its useful life.

Creditors’ Voluntary Liquidation (CVLs)

A Creditors’ Voluntary Liquidation (CVL) is a terminal insolvency procedure whereby the directors of a company instruct a Licenced Insolvency Practitioner to act as liquidator to wind up the company’s affairs.

Compulsory Liquidation

Compulsory Liquidation is when the company, its creditors, shareholders or directors can issue a winding up petition in court for a company to be wound up in respect of an unpaid debt.

Individual Voluntary Arrangements (IVA)

An IVA is a legally binding commitment between you and your creditors for you to pay some or all of your debts off over a fixed period of time (typically up to 5 years) with legal protection preventing your creditors from continuing to chase you for the money you owe them.

If you are an individual with severe financial difficulties, you can petition for your own bankruptcy, or a creditor who is owed more than £5,000 can petition to make you bankrupt.

Debt Relief Orders (DROs)

If your debts are less than a prescribed amount, you may meet the eligibility criteria for a Debt Relief Order.

Debt Management

Debt management is where an informal payment plan is entered into between you and your creditors to repay some or all of your debts over a period of time, with payments being made to creditors each month via an FCA authorised organisation.
